
Jeff McMillan set to return after serving five game suspection; Plus Eddie Loaw get fired from FIT November 27, 2000 Fordham University Power Forward Jeff MacMillan is set to return this week after serving a 5 game suspension for violation NCAA rules. Jeff, who attented St. Thomas Moore Prep, and played for the Madison Broncos AAU squad, was suspended after failing to complied records of his prep school payments. NCAA came down with the suspension after Fordham university approach them with Jeff Situation. And staying with FU, Cory Spencer is out 3 to 4 weeks. Cory is currently nursing a bad knee. In Other News; Eddie Loaw, was recently fired from his post as assistant coach at Fashion Institute of Technology. According to FIT management, Eddie was release of his duty after violating NCAA laws.
Wendell Gibson makes Hoftra his choice; Plus Reports on Kason Mims November 10, 2000 This week Molloy Star big man, Wendell Gibson, made his college choice. And although it was not easy, the 6'7" power forward admits, he made the right decision in Hoftra. Gibson choose to continue his education at the Long Island school, which also happens to be one of the top basketball program in the tri-state area. Wendell, who played with Riverside Church AAU team, had a long list of schools, including Miami of Ohio, Buffalo, Boston University and Siena. Hoftra, who received commitments from Chris Mcrae earlier this month, is happy to have Wendell join the Flying Dutchman's family. "Wendell is a great kid" noted Coach Jay Wright "He will definitely be an impact player". In other News; According to sources, Quinnipiac new recruit Kason Mims, is doing better then expected. Kason a Astoria Queens born, "is hitting his shots, and coming a long in a big way" the sources tell HRU. "Kason might make an impact sooner rather then later" he added.
University of Buffalo Gains Battle and St. Anthony's forward close to a decision. Plus HRU Endorses Ralph Nader November 5, 2000
Tuner Battle, of Kernersville, North Carolina has committed to the University of Buffalo, HRU as learn. The 6'3" Battle, who is often, compare with dazzling Bronx native point guard Carl Krauser, choose UB Bulls over Delaware, Tulane, Pittsburgh and a host of ACC schools. Battle told HRU that the coaching staff and the opportunity to step in and contribute right away, was the key factor for his decision. Pittsburgh was high on his list, but drop out since Pitt received a commitment from Carl Krauser from St. Thomas Moore. Tuner Battle impressed must ACC scouts after an impressive showing at both Adidas ABCD camp this past July and at the Southern Invitational camp. In Other News; 6'7" St. Anthony of New Jersey Forward, Pete Cipriano told HRU that his closer to a decision. When the new millennium started, Carl Krauser had one thing to say. "Am going Big East, but don't know where yet" Well there, was the University of Pittsburgh. Carl told HRU that its was the best choice for him both academically and athletically. "Hoftra was a great place and I love the coaching staff there, but it wasn't a place where I felt comfort academically," Carl told HRU when we ask why he chooses Pitt. Carl a flashy point guard from St. Thomas Moore, who learn those dazzling moves playing in the projects in the Bronx, is a success story. "He grew as a player but more importantly as a person" Coach Paul "Doc" Nicelly states, "He made me very proud". Carl, who got all his exposure playing with Doc Nicelli's Madison Broncos AAU squad, was able to shape up after transferring from Stevenson High School in the Bronx to St. Thomas Moore prep. In other News; Julius Hodge committed to North Carolina State this week. A great choice for the St. Raymond's star.
